Principal Architect Machine Learning


To support our future growth ambitions, we are looking for an experienced Principal Architect AI/ML to lead our AI/ML initiatives as part of our Global Tech-Data and Analytics Engineering organization. For the right candidate, Circle K can offer a challenging and rewarding role working with a talented global team.The Principal Architect AI/ML will be responsible for leading a global team of world-class AI/ML developers and data developers to deliver solutions in support of the company’s data-driven strategy. This position reports to Senior Director Data & Analytics Technology.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead a team of talented ML software developers & data developers who like to ship code and tackle hard software engineering problems.
  • Partner with Data Science team or 3rd parties to architect end to end analytical solutions, lead ML developers & data developers in optimizing, industrializing, and automating Data Science team’s algorithms
  • Build cohesive, high-functioning team that thrive in a culture of trust, respect, and inclusion.
  • Coach the team, foster a culture of accountability, innovation and teamwork.
  • Manage capacity to ensure we can deliver on commitments, and prioritize projects and tasks, while maintaining existing products without building up technical debt.
  • Facilitate cross function collaboration.
  • Effectively communicate with all stakeholders across business disciplines.
  • Work with Enterprise architecture team to set the technology strategy going forward for your area of responsibility, closely aligned with the business strategy. Quality must be aligned with agility, speed, scale and efficiency.
  • Work in an international environment where we strive for consolidation and globalization, while still working distributed.

 
Qualifications

 

  • 7 - 10 years of experience in architecting, designing, building and operating analytical solutions
  • Candidate must have strong software engineering skills to lead data engineers & AI/ML engineers and collaborate with Data Scientists to architect an end-to-end analytical solution.
  • Hands on knowledge of: key machine learning concepts (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning); programming languages (R, Python, SQL, bash scripting); ML frameworks (H2O.ai, Keras, Tensorflow, scikit-learn); development tools (RStudio, Jupyter, Spyder, PyCharm, Anaconda); data processing environments (relational databases like SQL Server, Snowflake, Apache Spark, streaming applications).
  • 3 years of people management in international, distributed environments (recruitment, performance management, talent development).
  • Ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders to identify and seize opportunities around data & analytics.
  • Familiarity with modern software development and architectural trends (cloud – preferably Azure, CI/CD, microservices).
  • Practical experience with Agile software development (SCRUM, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Ability to work with ambiguity as the organization moves through a significant change.
  • Proficiency in business English.
